Angels Finish Off Knights 4-2

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Rookie Lillian Fox scored two goals to lead the Meredith College soccer squad to a 4-2 victory over Southern Virginia Tuesday afternoon. The Avenging Angels open the USA South schedule Sunday with defending co-East Division Champion Salem College.

Fox scored her first collegiate goal in the sixth minute of the match unassisted from with a kick from just right of the net. Her second serve to the net finished off the first half scoring to leave the Angels in the lead 3-0 at the break.

Katie Carter, who returned to the lineup for the first time last week since being sidelined by an injury as a freshman, offered up an assist to Ansley Bucknam in the 18th minute of the match. This point marked Bucknam's second collegiate goal at Meredith.

SVU's Jamilla Anderson finished off a pass from McCall Jensen to put the Knights on the scoreboard in the ninth minute of the second period. Holly Cunha scored a second goal for Southern Virginia with an assist from Cydne Baker.

Jessica Wallace finished off the scoring for the match with a breakaway goal in the 73rd minute of the match.
