Hard Fought Match Ends in 7-2 Loss to Tornados

BREVARD, N.C. -- With the rain finally over Meredith College returned to the court for a non-conference match at Brevard College Sunday. The Tornados finished with a 7-2 victory, but the scores show a much closer pairing.

Alexandra Cheney and Logan King won their singles matches on courts four and five, giving up just five games between them. Emily Wilkinson lost a tough 13-11 third set in her battle at no. 3, and Aly Henneberry pushed Kelsey Kushner to a 6-4, 6-2 finish at two.

In doubles Wilkinson and Cheney kept Jen Cox and Darden King close in an 8-5 loss on court two, and Natalie Collins and Henneberry fought for an 8-2 finish in the top spot. King and Sarah Porter lost 8-1 on court three to Margaret Correll and Eleanor Flannery.

The Avenging Angels remain on the road next weekend with matches at Randolph-Macon and Virginia Wesleyan Saturday and Sunday.
