Soccer's Back Line Holds Quakers in 1-0 Loss

Box Score

RALEIGH, N.C. -- In Wednesday's non-conference pairing under the lights, the Meredith College soccer Angels notched a 1-0 loss to the visiting Guilford Quakers. The team will get a much deserved break from the action this weekend before hosting Salem next Tuesday night in USA South action.

The night's only goal came in the sixth minute of play as Guilford's Sarah Hall served up Taylor Rumrill for a shot from the right corner of the box. The two would pressure Meredith's defense throughout the night, but the Avenging Angels managed to hold back future attempts.

Katie Quinn interfered with the Quakers shortly after their goal and managed to strip the ball to regain possession. Similarly, Annah Bishop outpaced her opponent late in regulation to slow down the intensity of the final minutes of play to give her team a fighting chance down the stretch.

Hannah Elvington launched a pair of attempts, and Madison Gladwell and Quinn recorded one apiece.

Miranda Lutz tallied three saves in her eighth loss in goal for the Avenging Angels, and Aubrey Gunther recorded her fourth win for Guilford.
