Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Meredith College women's soccer team played Greensboro to a double-overtime tie at Pride Field on Friday night.
The Avenging Angels sit at 4-2-1 on the season behind a 2-0-1 record in league play and are now unbeaten in their last fourth matches after winning each of their three games. Meredith currently sits in sole possession of first place in the USA South East standings with seven points.
Meredith got on the board first when Claire-Emma Britt found a lose ball in the box after a corner kick for her second goal of the season, 1-0. The goal served to be the lone score in the first period of play as MC held a 1-0 advantage at the break.
Early in the second half, Logan Schnabl tied the game just under three minutes into the stanza. The 1-1 score held throughout regulation as the two sides headed for overtime.
The two teams played an extra 20 minutes of overtime, but neither side could find find the game winner.
Greensboro outshot Meredith 13-10 and also held an 8-3 edge in corner kicks.
Miranda Lutz stopped six shots in all 110 minutes, while Lindsay Fox made three saves for the Pride.
The Avenging Angels return to the pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 6, against William Peace at 3 pm.
