RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Angels-Monarchs women's soccer battle continued Saturday afternoon with a 2-2 draw between Meredith College and Methodist University in USA South action. Morgan Thomas and Lillian Fox were each credited with a goal for MCSC.

Methodist unloaded three quick shots at Miranda Lutz during the first two minutes of play, but MU's Aiden Sherry notched the first point with a penalty kick in the 28th minute to the left corner of the box. Through the remainder of the half, only Mary Archer Boyd would launch an attempt for the Avenging Angels.

Just nine minutes into the second period, Harris Barr scored a second for the visitors leaving the Angels trailing by two. But Meredith responded quickly as Kaelin Sanderford found Morgan Thomas in the middle for a quick point on the next play.

Seven and one half minutes later Fox netted her first point on the season to even the match at two's in the 62nd minute.

A flurry of activity on both ends of the field failed to change the scoreboard, sending the teams into two extra periods to close out the draw. MU recorded nine attempts at the net without a score, as the Angels battled to save the tie.

Lutz tallied 17 saves, and her counterpart Maggie Hunt notched two for Methodist.

The Avenging Angels return to action next Saturday at Pfeiffer University. The first kick is slated for 1 p.m. in Misenheimer, N.C.
