RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Meredith College soccer Angels claimed a 1-0 victory over visiting William Peace in USA South action Saturday afternoon.

Lilly Fox was fouled in the box early into second half and launched her penalty kick to the right corner of the net for the eventual win. With help from goalie Emily Haynes, the Angels defense held off WPU's constant attack throughout the period to record their first win on the season.

Fox and Morgan Thomas notched three attempts apiece, and Charlotte Ward recorded one. Amelie Gillies helped on the wing, and Hannah Omar kept the ball moving down the middle.

Meredith defended 10 corner kicks and 17 shots to protect the goal. Haynes stopped three in her win. Kasey Wilkins and Abigail Mosteller split time in the goal for the Pacers with Wilkins earning the loss.
