Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Meredith College soccer team battled with Guilford for over 100 minutes until the Quakers scored the game-winning goal late in the second overtime for a 1-0 victory on Saturday afternoon.
With the result, the Avenging Angels stand even at 1-1, while the Quakers improve to 4-0.
The two sides battled throughout regulation as the game went to extra time still scoreless. The first overtime period passed without a score before Sarah Hall took a pass from Claire Hill for the game winner. Meredith played with 10 players for the final 30 minutes of the contest after a red card was shown on the field.
As a team, the Avenging Angels took four shots with two on target, while the Quakers recorded 19 shots. Guilford also held an edge in corner kicks, 9-2.
Meredith returns to the pitch on Tuesday, Sept. 14, in its home opener that was originally scheduled to be played on Sept. 1 as it hosts Randolph-Macon at 6 pm.
