Tennis Wraps up Fall with Win Over Guilford

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Meredith College tennis program picked upa 6-3 win against Guilford on Friday afternoon.

The Avenging Angels move to 1-0 as they close out the fall portion of their schedule for the 2021-22 season. 

 In doubles action, the team of Summer Elkins and Ryann Jennings picked up an 8-5 win at the second spot over Jolie Nhouyvansvong and Bea Niyibizi, while Savannah Duduk and Claire Southern downed the pairing of Nya Reed and Alys Parker, 8-1, at No. 3 doubles. 

Entering singles play, the Avenging Angels held a 2-1 lead and picked up four wins the close out the day. At the second slot, Aly Henneberry defeated Hannah Pardue 6-2, 6-4, while Elkins earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory at fourth singles. Jennings scored a 6-1, 6-4 win against Reed at No. 4 and Southern cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at the sixth position.

The Avenging Angels wrap up their fall schedule and will return to action after the start of the new calendar year.
