SALEM, Va. — Meredith College Cross Country turned in a strong team performance at the Roanoke South Region Showdown on Saturday, finishing seventh overall. The meet featured a deep field, including Regional ranked teams representing NCAA Division I, II, and III. The Buccaneers of East Tennessee State University took the team title.
Leading the way for the Avenging Angels was junior Delaney Bundy, who delivered a standout performance to place 16th overall with a personal best time of 22:47.2 on the 6K course. Bundy's consistent over the season continues to highlight a strong campaign.
Senior Carly O'Toole added a key scoring finish for the Angels, clocking in at 24:19.7 to claim 47th place. Freshman Juana Silva Jimenez followed closely behind, 56th-place finish with a time of 24:32.6, showing steady improvement in her debut season.
Fellow first-years Madison Moyer and Addison Doran rounded out the scoring five for Meredith. Moyer came through in 86th place(25:27.3), while Doran was just steps behind in 88th place with a time of 25:31.6.
Head Coach Field Miller on the day, "We definitely had an up and down day but continue to improve our baseline performance. We toed the line with several regional ranked teams and were able to show our squads strength, which makes me very excited for the remaining season and future."
Meredith will look to carry this momentum into the USA South Conference Cross Country Championships, set for November 1st at Pfeiffer University.
