SALEM, Va. | Meredith College track and field competed at the Bast-Cregger Invitational this past weekend.
Abigail Clayton had another strong performance and set a school record with her 3
rd place finish in the 500 meters (1:24.77).
Laura Brown led the distance group with a new PR in the 3,000 meters.

"Don't be afraid to make some mistakes and learn from them is a big philosophy we follow. Several of our athletes saw season bests or personal records this weekend. I think the biggest take away this weekend for some was the ability to race with urgency and take calculated risks."

ABOUT THE MEET:
- Abigail Clayton finished the 500 meters in 1:24.77, good for 3rd place and a new school record. She returned on day two and competed in the 400m. Clayton finished the 400 in 12th with a time of 1:04.98.
- Madelyn Morton had a quality race in the 500m. She finished 12th crossing the line in 1:30.00. Morton also competed in the 400 and got 21st with a time of 1:08.00.
- Laura Brown led the Avenging Angels in the distance events. She set a run PR in the 3,000 meters and finished in 23rd.
- Caitlin Brown posted a season best in the 800m. She completed the race in 2:48.70 for 57th place. Additionally, Caitlyn anchored the 4x400 relay team with Morton, Clayton, and Natasha Elder.

- Meredith travels to Lynchburg, Virginia for the Liberty Open, a two-day event that begins on Friday.
