MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. | Meredith College Track & Field had their best outdoor performance of the season at the Adidas Trojan Challenge. The Avenging Angels earned 21 top ten finishes overall. Athena Mowatt set a new school record in shot put with a 11.00 meter throw.

INSIDE THE MEET

Sprints and Middle Distance:
The sprint events saw standout performances, with Abrianna Casarez taking home two notable finishes. In the 200m dash, she finished 8th with a time of 26.80 seconds, while in the 400m, she earned 4th place with a time of 1:02.38. She was closely followed by teammates Natasha Elder and Maddie Morton, who also participated in the 400m. Elder placed 6th with 1:05.95, and Morton took 7th with 1:06.88.

In the 100M dash, Halona Bryant placed 10th with a time of 13.91 seconds. Meanwhile, Ellie-Reed Zimmerman ran a strong 400m hurdles, finishing in 5th place with a time of 1:18.82.

Distance Events:
Delaney Bundy ran the 5000m, taking 1st place with a time of 21:44. In the 800m, Caitlin Brown placed 8th with a time of 2:37.92, and Laura Brown followed up in the 1500m, securing 10th place with a time of 5:48.89.

Relay:
Meredith's 4x100 relay team of Jaelyne Thorton, Natasha Elder, Maddie Morton, and Abrianna Casarez finished 2nd with a time of 52.60 seconds.

Throwing Events:
The throwing events were a significant highlight for Meredith, especially with strong performances across the board and one new school record.

Shot Put:
Athena Mowatt had an excellent showing in the shot put, finishing in 6th place with a throw of 11.00 meters, setting a new school record. Her performance was a highlight of the event, and she earned recognition for her consistency.

Hammer Throw:
In the hammer throw, Samantha Carmichael finished 7th with a throw of 29.58 meters, while Athena Mowatt took 8th with 22.09 meters. Other team members, Kaitlyn Lee and Kaitlyn Lawton, finished 9th and 10th with throws of 16.25 meters and 13.88 meters, respectively.

Discus Throw:
Mowatt continued her strong performance in the discus throw, finishing 7th with a throw of 27.31 meters, while Samantha Carmichael followed closely in 8th place with 27.11 meters. Kaitlyn Lawton also contributed, finishing 9th with a throw of 21.12 meters.

Javelin Throw:
In the javelin throw, Mowatt took 3rd place with a throw of 28.16 meters, showcasing her all-around talent in the throwing events. Samantha Carmichael finished in 7th place with a throw of 24.48 meters.

Other Field Events:
In the high jump, Avery McMillan cleared a height of 1.25 meters, finishing in 8th place, contributing to the overall field event effort.
