RALEIGH, N.C. | Meredith Tennis will honor Seniors
Claire Southern and
Ellie Osborne before the Avenging Angels match against Salem College on Saturday. Southern and Osborne have greatly impacted the tennis program on and off the court throughout their careers as an Avenging Angel.
Claire Southern, Senior, Raleigh, North Carolina:
Claire joined the team in 2021 after competing in high school at Sanderson here in the triangle. In her first season with the Avenging Angels, Southern snagged three wins in singles and six in doubles. Southern helped the team to seven wins as a freshman and six during her junior year. Last winter, Southern reached the semi-finals at the USTA Southern Indoor Championships. She cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the round of 16 en route to her semi-final's appearance. Southern will get her degree in Biology with a concentration in pre-nursing and a minor in psychology.
Ellie Osborne, Senior, Greenville, North Carolina:
Osborne joined the team in 2021 after a stellar high school career at The Oakwood School. Osborne had her breakout season as a sophomore in 2022 and earned 2
nd Team All-Conference honors. She followed that up the next season with USA South All-Sportsmanship recognition and received the Meredith Tennis Impact award at the HALOS. Osborne continues to compete in #1 singles this season for the Avenging Angles. Ellie will graduate with a degree in Psychology and Business Administration with a Marketing concentration.
