RALEIGH, NC - The Meredith College Softball team has been placed third in the USA South Conference preseason poll behind Pfeiffer and NC Wesleyan. Coach Kim Scavone, who returns for her 16th season as the Head Coach of the Avenging Angels is looking forward to getting started. "I am very excited about this year's team. We have a lot of talent returning both on defense and at the plate. We lost some speed to graduation, but I am excited to see how some of our freshmen are able to fill that role for us on the bases. The return of Lillie Davis to the circle will help to keep us at the top of a very tough USA South conference."
Standout utility player, Ashbee Standridge, returns to lead the Angels on offense. In 2025 she led the team in batting average, hits, RBI's and tallied 9 homeruns. The Avenging Angels pitching staff is fully loaded with the return of senior pitcher 1st Team All-Conference honoree Lillie Davis. Sophomore Emily Dorsey, who stepped up after Davis suffered an injury last season, will be called upon once again to lead the team in the circle. Sophomore Kaydon Roberson is coming off a solid freshman season and will continue to produce for the Angels on offense. Three incoming freshmen, Lynlee Ogburn, Rylee Meyer, and Abigail Holt will add speed back into the lineup after the graduation of stolen base record holder Mia Staggs. With 27 on roster, the Angels are prepared with depth in all areas and are excited to get back on the field on February 21, when they take on Messiah in a 1:00pm double header.
