AMHERST, Va. – The Meredith College golf team competed in a tightly contested head-to-head match against Sweet Briar College on Wednesday at Winton Farm Golf Course, falling 349–363 in the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Set against the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the par-71 championship layout challenged both teams with its large Bentgrass greens and Bermuda fairways, creating a competitive test from start to finish.
The Avenging Angels showed strong consistency throughout the lineup, highlighted by a pair of low rounds from Lainey Edwards (81) and Jenna Underwood (83). Martina Diodato added an 84 to round out Meredith's top three scores, keeping the Angels within striking distance throughout the day. Despite the narrow margin, Meredith demonstrated resilience and depth in a competitive match-play setting.
Meredith will look to build on the performance as it returns to action April 10–12 at the Camp Lejeune Marine Intercollegiate, hosted at Paradise Point Golf Course – Scarlet Course in Jacksonville, North Carolina.
