Raleigh, N.C. – The Meredith basketball team hosted
Methodist University on Wednesday evening. The Monarchs took the
game from the Avenging Angels winning 77-71.
Meredith (5-10, 4-6 USA South) took the first half lead over with
less than 10 minutes remaining in the half. The Avenging Angels
would hold the 31-29 halftime advantage. Methodist (10-8, 6-5) took
the lead back at the 13:20 mark of the second half and would not
give it back. Meredith made a valiant effort in the end cutting a
16 point deficit to four with less than a minute remaining.
The Avenging Angels were led by Brittany Cornelius with a
double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds. Megan Rahn had 18
points and eight rebounds. Hunter Johnson contributed ten points
and Kristin Stewart had eight.
Meredith next hosts Averett on Saturday at 2 p.m. in a USA South
Conference game.
