Raleigh, N.C. – The Meredith basketball opened its USA South Conference schedule on Tuesday hosting Averett.  The Cougars defeated the Avenging Angels 64-43.

Meredith (2-2, 0-1 USA South) tied the game at 2-2 and then Averett (4-0, 1-0) took the lead for good.  The Avenging Angels would continue to keep the Cougars close and trailed by nine at the half, 28-19.  Megan Rahn's two pointer with 15 minutes remaining would get the Angels to within six point before Averett extended their lead and took the victory.

Meredith was led by Rahn with a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds.  Kristin Stewart added nine points, six rebounds and six blocks.  Averett was led by Ashley Washington with 17 points and nine rebounds. 

The Avenging Angels continue their conference schedule as they travel to Ferrum on Thursday for a 7 p.m. game.
