Basketball Gets Bitten By Panthers

Ferrum, Va. - The Meredith basketball team continued their USA South conference play heading to Ferrum on Thursday night. The Panthers took the victory from Meredith 94-67.

Meredith stayed with Ferrum the first six minutes as the Avenging Angels took the 10-8 lead at the 14:38 mark on a three pointer from Megan Rahn.  The Panthers then took the lead and never gave it back.  Ferrum (3-2, 2-0 USA South) held the 48-35 half time lead over Meredith (2-3, 0-2)

Meredith was led by Rahn who picked up her third straight double-double in as many games played this year, with 29 points and 11 rebounds.  Ashley Hudson had 12 points including going two for two from three point range.  Kristin Stewart had nine points, five blocks and five rebounds while Bryana Holmes added seven points and seven assists.

Ferrum outshot Meredith 49% to 44% and held the advantage on turnovers 35-16.

The Avenging Angels next head to Newport News, Va. on Sunday the 12th as they face #3 nationally-ranked Christopher Newport at 2 p.m.
