Raleigh, N.C. – The Meredith basketball team hosted a
"Think Pink" game against Averett University to benefit
the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. The Cougars took the Avenging Angels
72-59.
The Avenging Angels led by as many as 14 points in the first half
when Whitley Turner sunk two free throws. Meredith held the one
point lead at halftime 27-26. Averett immediately tied it up in the
beginning of the second half and did not lose the lead the rest of
the game.
Meredith was led by four players in double figures. Brittany
Cornelius had a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. Megan
Rahn had 15 while Kristin Stewart and Whitley Turner had 10
each.
Meredith next travels to N.C. Wesleyan to complete their regular
season.
Meredith hosted their third annual PinkZone game today as they
played Averett University. The PinkZone game encompassed several
fund raisers in support of the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. The
Meredith College athletics department sold "Avenging
Angels" t-shirts, hosted a raffle and collect donations with
all proceeds going to the fund.
