Ferrum, Va. - The Meredith softball team started USA South
conference play by traveling to Ferrum. The Avenging Angels were
swept in the doubleheader, 4-0 in game one and 3-2 in game two
after eight innings.
Game 1: Ferrum 4,
Meredith 0: The Avenging Angels could not muster any offense
with only three hits in the opener. Ferrum picked up two runs in
the third and added one more in the fourth and sixth innings to
seal the win.
Game 2: Ferrum 3,
Meredith 2 - 8 innings: Gus Crist led the way for Meredith,
hitting a two run home run in top of the fourth. Ferrum answered in
the fifth with two of their own. The Panthers then were able to
capitalize with a runner on second and a game winning single in the
bottom of the eighth.
Meredith next hosts N.C. Wesleyan on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
