Box Score Raleigh, N.C. – The Meredith basketball team opened a home conference weekend as Mary Baldwin visited on Saturday. The Fighting Squirrels downed the Avenging Angels 69-56.
Meredith (4-8, 1-6 USA South) held an early four point lead at 16-12 with 11 minutes remaining in the first half as Kaela Bellefeuil hit a three pointer. Mary Baldwin (3-12, 1-8) would then tie the score at 16–all and would hold the lead the rest of the game. The Fighting Squirrels held the 36-23 halftime advantage. Meredith could not gain any ground in the second half as Mary Baldwin controlled the clock.
Mary Baldwin outshot Meredith 36% to 26% from the field and outrebounded the Angels 57-41.
The Avenging Angels were led by Megan Rahn with a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds. Danielle Lee, Kaela Bellefeuil and Kristin Stewart all scored seven points each.
Meredith returns to action on Sunday as they host Shenandoah at 2 p.m.
