Basketball Overruled by Monarchs, 70-60

Raleigh, N.C. – The Meredith basketball team dropped a game to the Methodist Monarchs on Sunday 70-60.  Megan Rahn was honored before the game for reaching 1,000 career points the week before.

Meredith (5-16, 2-14 USA South) and Methodist (13-10, 11-5) went back and forth in the first half until the Monarchs pushed it to a  13 point lead at the 4:31 mark of the first half.  Methodist held a 32-24 halftime lead.

The second half saw Meredith cut the deficit to four points at 48-44 on a three-pointer by Kayelyn Rochester with ten minutes remaining.  Methodist then went on a streak and took the game from Meredith.

Meredith was led by Bryana Holmes with 16 points.  Ashley Hudson added 12 points and both Rochester and Danielle Lee had nine points.  Methodist was led by Jackie Lyles with 22 points and nine rebounds.

Meredith next returns to action on Tuesday, as they travel across town to take on rival Peace at 7 p.m.
