Box Score Raleigh, N.C. – The Avenging Angels played tough against the visiting Ferrum Panthers on Wednesday night, falling just short 47-44. Meredith also celebrated their WBCA PinkZone game to benefit the WBCA Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
Meredith (5-15, 2-13 USA South) zoomed out to a 8-2 lead in the first two and half minutes, but then went on a seven minute scoring stretch to let the Panthers back in it. Ferrum (14-7, 10-4) held the 20-17 half time lead.
The Avenging Angels took the 28-22 lead at the 15 minute mark on a layup by Megan Rahn. Ferrum would then take the 30-28 lead and not give it up. Meredith would reduce the lead to one at the 1:08 minute mark as Danielle Lee hit a free throw but could not surpass the Panthers.
Meredith was led by Rahn with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Lee also came up strong, getting 12 rebounds to go with six points. Bryana Holmes had 13 points and Kristin Stewart pulled down 10 boards for the Angels. Ferrum was led by Kristen Keith with 19 points and eight rebounds.
Meredith returns to action on Sunday as they host Methodist at 2 p.m.
