Monarchs Take Doubleheader From Softball

Fayetteville, N.C. - The Meredith softball team traveled to Methodist on Tuesday night to face the Monarchs under the lights.  The Monarchs took both games, winning game one 10-2 and game two 9-1.

Game 1:  Methodist 10, Meredith 2 - 5 innings:  The Monarchs jumped out quick on Meredith, putting up 10 runs in the first four innings before the Avenging Angels answered with two in the top of the fifth.  Meredith out hit Methodist with eight versus six from the Monarchs.  Arielle Stout's 2-RBI triple in the fifth highlighted the offense for the Avenging Angels.  Stout also picked up the loss at pitcher, walking eight and getting three strikeouts.

Game 2:  Methodist 9, Meredith 1 - 6 innings:  Meredith took the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first with Emily Green getting a double and scoring later in the inning on an error.  The Monarchs then put the next nine runs up on the board to end the game early after six innings.

Meredith next heads to Shenandoah and Christopher Newport this weekend in USA South double headers.
