Box Score 2 Va. Beach, Va. – The Avenging Angels completed day one at the VWC Beach Blast in Va. Beach on Friday. The Avenging Angels lost both games going down to the wire.
Game one: Virginia-Wise 4, Meredith 2 – 8 innings: The game was 2-2 in the top of the eighth as the Cavaliers gained two runs in the top side of the inning and Meredith could not match it. Arielle Stout pitched all eight innings for Meredith striking out 17 batters and only gave up two hits. Emily Cooke was 1 for 3 with a double and scored one run for Meredith. Rebecca Leigh was 2 for 4 and scored once. Carrie Webster was 2-4 from the plate.
Game two: Randolph-Macon 1, Meredith 0 – The game was 1-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning until Randolph-Macon pushed across one run to give the Yellow Jackets the victory. Meredith was hitting the ball hard but it was finding its way directly to the Randolph-Macon players. Carrie Webster pitched most of the game, striking out three and giving up eight hits.
Meredith returns to action on Saturday, facing Frostburg State at noon and Eastern Mennonite at 4 p.m.
