Virginia Beach, Va. - The Meredith softball team completed their weekend in Virginia Beach with two wins, defeating Frostburg State 3-2 and Eastern Mennonite 3-2.

Game 1 - Meredith 3, Frostburg State 2: Arielle Stout pitched seven innings striking out 10 and only giving up three hits in the win.  Meredith hit the long ball well from Emily Cooke with a two-run home run and Stout with a solo shot. Jordan Zachmeyer went two for three and scored a run.

Game 2 - Meredith 3, Eastern Mennonite 2: The Avenging Angels (5-9) were down 2-1 in the bottom of 7th inning as Kristen Piner led off with single and Sara Cranford sacrafice bunted. Jordan Zachmeyer reached on an infield single and stole second.  Rebecca Leigh then grounded to second base for an out but brought in Piner to tie the game.  Emily Cooke had the game winning RBI-single to score Zachmeyer.

Cooke was two for four and Piner was two for three with an RBI and a run scored. Zachmeyer was one for three with a run scored.

Jessica Dzeskewicz pitched five innings striking out one and giving up five hits and two runs. Carrie Webster came in relief to gain the win in two innings pitched as she only gave up two hits and struck out one.

Meredith next opens conference play on March 19 as the Avenging Angels host Ferrum at 1 p.m.
