Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith basketball team started a three game USA South home stand as the Ferrum Panthers came to Weatherspoon Gymnasium on Tuesday night.  Ferrum's second half output was too much for Meredith as they took the game 85-69.

Ferrum (15-4, 10-2 USA South) went on a 7-0 streak to start the game until a basket by Bryana Holmes put the Avenging Angels (5-13, 3-9) on the board.  Meredith then chipped away at the lead as a Holmes' three pointer cut the lead to 26-23.  The Panthers and Angels would continue to battle the rest of the half.  Meredith went on a end of half scoring frenzy as a lay up by Rah'nika Jones put the game at one point and Ferrum held the 40-39 halftime lead.  Both teams were hot shooting at 51% from the field.

The second half started close as a shot by Rebekah Cox cut the Ferrum lead back to one at 44-43.  The Panthers then went on a 13-2 run in a four minute span to take a 57-45 lead with 13 minutes left to play.  Ferrum continued the pressure on Meredith and rolled to the conference win.  The shooting cooled off in the second half as Ferrum led 43% to 41% from the field and had 10 more attempts than the Angels.  

Meredith was led by Megan Rahn with 23 points and eight rebounds.  Kristen Alford had 12 points while both Holmes and Keyanka Bailey had 11 each.  Ferrum was led by Kristen Keith with a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Meredith returns to action on Saturday as they host Christopher Newport on Saturday at 2 p.m.  The game will be Meredith's Play 4Kay Game as all proceeds will go towards the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.  All fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game.  Admission to the game is free and donations to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund are appreciated.
