ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - USA South foe N.C. Wesleyan finished off the Meredith Avenging Angels 59-44 with a 16-3 run in the final five minutes of action Saturday afternoon. Meredith (5-11) shot poorly much of the day and dropped their eighth league game as a result. The Battling Bishops improved to 7-10 overall and 6-4 in the conference.

The Avenging Angels held the advantage in the early minutes of play thanks to three consecutive buckets from the team's top scorers on the day. McKenzi Edwards added an and-one on her layup to extend that lead to five at 17:25.

A pair of Bishop threes gave the hosts the lead at 12:39, but Rah'nika Jones won the battle inside to put her team back on top. Keyanka Bailey scored the team's final bucket of the half with six full minutes remaining.

N.C. Wesleyan took advantage of the drought and carried a seven-point lead into the locker room at the break.

Meredith improved on their shooting in the second half but picked up nothing from beyond the arc all day.

Edwards posted a dozen of her 15 total points in the second half and pulled the Avenging Angels to within a pair at 6:35. A flurry of turnovers and missed attempts left Meredith sitting at 41 points while the Bishops ran away with the game for the win.

Bailey finished with 10 points and as many rebounds, adding three steals on the day. Danielle Lee added seven points, ten rebounds, and Tyler Gresham grabbed eight boards, including four on the offensive end.

Four Bishops posted double-figure scoring with Samantha Urquhart and Shanice Goree leading the pack with 14 apiece. Urquhart added 10 rebounds in the win.

Meredith travels North to Christopher Newport (14-2, 7-2 USA South) for Sunday afternoon's USA South event. The Captains sit in third among league opponents.
