Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. - The Meredith Avenging Angels increased their winning streak to three with tonight's 82-28 conference win over visiting Mary Baldwin College. McKenzi Edwards led the offensive efforts with 16 points in 8-10 shooting from the field.
Meredith improved to 1-2 in USA South action with the win, moving to 4-5 overall. The Fighting Squirrels dropped their third conference game on the season.
Meredith shot 39.1% to MBC's 21.9% to help the Avenging Angels cruise to their first league win this season. In addition Danielle Lee and Kim Hinton led the rebounding efforts with a combined 16 of the team's 57 total boards.
Freshman Laquetta Hairston finished the game with nine steals in her 23 minutes of play, adding a perfect six from the free throw line. Kristen Alford and Diana Owens posted nine points apiece. Edwards dished out a game-high five assists and grabbed four steals in the win.
Mary Baldwin's Shamanda Washington scored 11 points, adding a team-high eight rebounds for her team. Sheridan Lawrence dropped in three field goals and picked up four boards.
The Avenging Angels host Averett University Saturday afternoon in a USA South pairing. Tipoff is slated for 4 p.m. in Weatherspoon Gym.
