LYNCHBURG, Va. - In Saturday's non-conference action the Lynchburg Hornets capitalized on Meredith's 28 turnovers to claim a 79-55 victory. Danielle Lee led Meredith with eight rebounds, adding four steals in the loss.

After shooting nearly 44 percent from three-point range in last Sunday's contest, today's 17.6 percent through a kink in Meredith's offensive strategy. The shooting challenge combined with Lynchburg's 51 percent from the field proved too much for the Angels.

Meredith held Lynchburg to a single-digit advantage much of the first half, but the Hornets steadily pulled away through the last 20 minutes of play.

Kim Hinton led the Angels with nine points, six boards, with Jessi Hayes and Brittaney Rice adding eight points apiece. Laquetta Hairston tallied seven points with a pair of assists, and rookie Stephanie Girard came off the bench to record seven points and four steals. In spite of 76.9 percent shooting as a team from the free throw line, three Avenging Angels were perfect from the stripe.

Three Hornets notched a double-digit day, with Shannon Allan leading the way with 19 points.

With the Thanksgiving holiday around the corner and final exams the following week, Meredith will pause their competition schedule until the season's home opener Friday, December 12. The Angels host Randolph College in a 6 p.m. tip-off in Weatherspoon Gymnasium.
