Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. - The Meredith College softball team defeated the Wesleyan (Ga.) Wolves 8-0 after a rain delay forced a late start to day-three of the program's spring break trip. A Courtney Saunders double launched a six-run inning in the fourth to push the Angels out front.
After the Meredith defense handled Wesleyan in three at-bats in the top of the fifth, Lorri Cole led off in the bottom of the frame with a single to left field. Whitney Williams advanced on an error, and Alyssa D'Arco sacrificed to move the runners.
Kayla Lane drilled a sacrifice fly to center to score Cole, and Katlyn Johnson crushed a walk-off triple to secure the game early.
Amanda Beirne faced 16 batters allowing just two hits with as many strikeouts to post her eighth win on the year.
The Avenging Angels' final game of the Florida series was delayed until 10 p.m. Wednesday due to today's rain. Meredith returns to home to host the Averett Cougars Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. and travels across town the next day for a USA South doubleheader at William Peace.
