GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Meredith College Avenging Angels split a two-game series with Greensboro College in Tuesday's USA South action. The Pride scored seven runs in the fifth inning of game one to claim an 11-8 win, and Meredith capped off the day with an 8-3 victory in game two.

The Pride jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the day's opener on four hits and an infield throwing error.

A scoreless second inning placed Alyssa D'Arco at the plate for Meredith in the top of the third. She doubled down the leftfield line, and Leah Friedman moved D'Arco to third to ready for Katlyn Johnson.

D'Arco reached home on a sacrifice fly from Johnson to put the Avenging Angels on the board, and Amanda White added a second run on her own sacrifice to center.

Lorri Cole put Meredith out front on a three-run homer in the top of the fifth, but the lead was shortlived.

The hosts took advantage of the Avenging Angel defense and posted seven runs in the bottom of the frame to regain control of the game for good.

Meredith regrouped during the break and opened with a two-run lead in game two. A home run from White and an RBI-single from Ashley Green added two more.

The Angel defense prevented Greensboro from reaching home through five innings to maintain the four-run advantage. An outfield misstep in the bottom of the sixth allowed the Pride to score, but Meredith rallied in the top of the next frame to maintain control.

White advanced to first on a fielder's choice, and Cole sent her home on a double to right center. Green scored Cole on her third career triple and reached home in the next at-bat. Smart base running sent D'Arco home to put Meredith out of reach for the win.

The Avenging Angels host Mary Baldwin Friday in the final home set of the season beginning at Noon. Head Coach Kim Scavone and her team will celebrate the four seniors in between games.
