FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Kim Hinton collected All-Tournament honors as the Meredith College basketball team earned runner-up at the Mary Washington Hyatt Place Tipoff Tournament Saturday. The Avenging Angels fell 80-48 to the hosts in the championship contest.

The Eagles jumped out to an early 10-point advantage in the first quarter and continued the pressure with an 18-point lead heading into the half.

Meredith regrouped during the break and put together a strong showing in the third quarter. The Angels shot 57.1 percent to UMW's 41.2 to outscore the hosts 22-18. But the rim went cold for Meredith in the final 10 minutes of play as the Eagles advanced their lead for the victory.

Gabi Jessup scored a career-high 13 points to lead the Avenging Angels. Hinton added 12 points and a game-high eight rebounds, and Jessi Hayes tallied seven boards, five points in the loss.

Mary Washington's Kendall Parker recorded a game-high 20 points, and Taylor Barton added seven points with as many rebounds.

Meredith will enjoy the Thanksgiving Break before heading to Fayetteville, North Carolina, for the USA South Athletic Conference opener Wednesday, Dec. 2. Follow the action live HERE.
