Hinton Scores Career-High 17 in Win Over Mary Baldwin

STAUNTON, Va. - Kim Hinton scored 17 points as the Meredith College basketball squad downed Mary Baldwin 80-49 in Sunday's USA South action. The Avenging Angels stand in second in conference North division standings behind Greensboro after the weekend's doubleheader.

The Fighting Squirrels remained close through the first 12 minutes of play with Meredith ahead by just five points at 21-16.

But Raven Gregory kicked off a 13-2 Angels run on the next play that would eventually lead to a 38-point spread early in the second half.

Hinton completed her double-double with 12 rebounds, and Jessi Hayes and Brittaney Rice added 13 points apiece. Gregory posted nine boards, six points, and Laquetta Hairston added seven points with five steals in the win. Rookie Chandler Hines dropped in a career-high nine points on the day.

Mary Baldwin's Imani Hill and Ayanni Seay led the Squirrels with a dozen apiece.

Meredith kicks off a five-game home stretch Wednesday night playing host to the Methodist Monarchs at 7:30 p.m. The YMCA Super Skippers will perform February 7 during halftime and February 14 marks the team's Play 4Kay event.
