The game began with quick baskets by both teams as the Bishops' Kechae Parker made a quick jump shot followed by Meredith's Jessi Hayes hitting a three pointer off of an Ashley Hudson assist. The three-pointer jumpstarted the Angels on the offensive end as they went into the second quarter with an 18-12 advantage.

Meredith utilized Gregory and Kim Hinton inside the paint to remain even with Wesleyan in the second period. Nadiya Holley scored eight points for the visitors during the frame on four-of-seven shooting to keep the Bishops in the mix and trailing by just four at the intermission. Gregory contributed seven points and eight rebounds before the half, as she dominated the inside for the Angels.

 

During the first 2:40 of the second half, N.C. Wesleyan launched a 9-1 run to slip past the Avenging Angels by four. But the resurgence was short lived as the Bishops found themselves in early foul trouble with Meredith in the bonus less than five minutes into the period. The Angels took advantage of the extra scoring opportunities netting 18-of-25 free throws during the period.

 

The final quarter followed the same pattern with Wesleyan in foul trouble yet again. The Avenging Angels maintained the pressure as they pulled away in the final minutes to preserve the 69-57 win.

 

Hayes contributed 17 points to lead Meredith's offense, adding seven boards and four assists. Hudson finished with 13 points, four assists on the afternoon, and Hinton registered a double-double with 10 points and as many rebounds.

Parker and Holley combined for 30 points to lead the Bishops in the loss.
