Box Score

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Jennifer Halvorson scored a season high six goals in a career-high 12 attempts to lead the Meredith College lacrosse Angels to a 13-11 victory over the visiting Scranton Royals on Friday evening. Meredith scored four consecutive goals late in the second half to secure the win.

The Royals gained momentum early with a pair of quick goals during the first minute of play. Meredith battled for their first point with a goal from Holly Hite, assisted by Carlee Joseph. Joseph delivered Halvorson her first opportunity to tie the match, and then Halvorson gave the Avenging Angels a lead on her first of three free position scores.

Maria Codispoti found Hite on the other end to edge MC Lax back in front 4-3. Hite controlled the next draw, and Jordyn King extended Meredith's lead to two with a quick attack on an assist from Molly Miller.

A Meredith penalty in the next series gave the visitors a player advantage. Whitfield saved two Scranton attempts during the offensive set, but Morgan Windisch finally used the advantage to score the first of back-to-back goals to even the score once again.

The teams continued to battle through the remainder of the half, and Scranton controlled the offense with one minute remaining. Meredith's Cameron Ruffin caused her second of three team-leading caused turnovers to hold the Royals to a one-point lead heading into the half.
