WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- After a midweek, four-game stint in Kissimmee, Florida, the Meredith College softball Angels returned to USA South Conference play versus the Salem Spirits. Bryce Smith drives in five RBI on two hits to lead Meredith to a 9-3 victory in game one, but a three-run Salem homer in game two finishes off the split.

Game 1
Salem opened the day with a RBI-single in the third, but Meredith notched 11-of-15 hits in the next four innings to secure the victory.

Eran Artigues went four-for-four, and Kelsey Mabe tallied three hits in four at-bats with one RBI. Julia Allsbrook scored two runs with one hit and one RBI, and Erica Occena drove in two runs on a two-out double in the fourth.

Starting pitcher Myah Morse recorded her fourth win allowing two hits with one earned run, four walks, and three strikeouts. Jackson entered in relief in the fifth to finish out the game for her fourth career save.

Game 2
The Avenging Angels struggled to maintain the momentum through the second game, and Salem managed nine hits for six earned runs to capture the win.

Five Angels recorded a hit, including an extra base from Sarah Watson, Maria Annunziata, and Allsbrook. Allsbrook's double scored Brittany Bucklin in the second, and Bucklin scored Watson in the fourth to cap off the Angels' runs.

Jackson recorded the loss striking out six with five walks on nine hits, and Salem's Miranda Barker posted her fifth win earning both Meredith runs with five hits, while striking out three.

The Avenging Angels' doubleheader at Pfeiffer University was moved to Wednesday, March 14, due to tomorrow's wet forecast. Meredith is slated to return to their home field next weekend for back-to-back USA South play days.
