Hornets Down Basketball 81-60

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Lynchburg Hornets downed Meredith College 81-60 in Sunday's non-conference women's basketball action. Kate Perko led three Avenging Angels in double-figures with 18 points.

Meredith trailed the hosts throughout the 40 minutes of play but improved their field goal shooting from yesterday to 40.0 percent, including 35.7 from three-point range. Kimberly Schuh scored 15, and Zaina Hook entered from the bench to contribute 11.

Lindsay Bell led all with six rebounds, adding four points and one assist. Schuh grabbed five boards, and Hook doled out four assists. Caroline Coleman picked up the only Avenging Angel assist, scoring four.

Lynchburg's Alissa Smalls matched Perko with 18 points, and Maggie Quarles finished with 15.

MCBB hosts Guilford College Wednesday in a 7 p.m. contest. The Quakers were selected first in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference preseason coaches poll and received 45 votes in the D3hoops.com poll.
