Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Meredith College earned a 9-1, five-inning loss to the Kean Cougars The Spring Games Tuesday morning before edging Carnegie Mellon 3-1 in the afternoon game.

vs. Kean
The Cougars racked up 11 hits to MCSB's four en route to an eight-run victory to give Payton Aldridge her third loss on the season. Aldridge earned five runs in eight hits during the first 3.2 innings before Emily Clemmons entered in relief to face the next six batters. After a tough series that led to four more Kean runs, Gianna Buccellato closed out the game for the Avenging Angels. Kaitlin Stahlbrand earned Meredith's solo run and the win with Jacqueline Riley closing out the day for a save.

Meredith's only run came in the third inning that opened with a double from Chloe Johnson. Anna Goldman moved Johnson to third with a sacrifice, and Kelsey Mabe drove in the run with a single through the right side of the field.

vs. Carnegie Mellon
After a scoreless two and one half innings, the Avenging Angels loaded the bases in the third in time for an RBI-walk from Bryce Smith. Alyssa Drake scored on a hit from Johnson to advance Meredith's lead to two.

The MCSB defense stopped the Tartans in the fourth with a double play, and Madison Hamilton recorded her second hit on the day with a single up the middle. Cecilia Coleman drove in Hamilton with a double to right, but a Carnegie double play ended the inning early.

The Tartans scored in the fifth, but Meredith held them to one with a rundown play at third. MCSB kept the bats moving in the fifth and sixth, leaving two more potential runs on base, but Sarah Gundlach and her defense finished the game with three outs in the final three at-bats for the win.

Gundlach earned the win with another complete game pitched. She walked three, struck out one with no runs earned in two hits.

Meredith will enjoy a day off Wednesday before wrapping up the Florida trip Thursday versus Thomas More and Wooster.
