Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Meredith College softball Angels opened The Spring Games Monday with a 10-5 loss to the Wooster Fighting Scots and a 3-0 loss to nationally ranked Manhattanville.
vs. Wooster
The Scots opened the game with nine runs in two innings. Meredith recorded three hits through the first round of the lineup but did not score until the third. In the top of the inning, Anna Goldman led off with a double and scored on a two-base hit from Tatum Smith. Smith advanced to scoring position on a single from Bryce Smith and scored on a fielder's choice from Rachel Johnson.
The defense held Wooster in the bottom of the frame, and neither program scored in the fourth. In the top of five, Bryce Smith scored Mabe on a sac-fly to center, but the Scots countered with one-out RBI single in the bottom of the inning.
In the top of the seventh, the Avenging Angels scored two more on a two-RBI dinger from Bryce Smith, but Wooster took care of the next three batters to end the game.
Myah Morse earned the loss for MCSB allowing three hits in 13 batters. She earned five runs with five walks and a pair of strikeouts. Hannah Weigle entered in the second and earned one run in six hits with one walk and two strike outs.
vs. Manhattanville
With Sarah Gundlach in the circle, the Avenging Angels held #25 Manhattanville to three runs on seven hits. Gundlach earned one run with two walks and two strikeouts.
Mabe led the dugout with a single in the third and another in the fifth. Susanne Taylor's single came in the second and a walk from Hamilton gave the Angels a pair of runners. A two-out double to right in the bottom of the third from Bryce Smith moved Mabe into scoring position, but both were left stranded.
MCSB plays two more Tuesday beginning with Hood College, followed by the Bison of Bethany College (W.V.)
