Box Score DANVILLE, Va. -- Kate Perko scored a career-high 35 points to lead Meredith College in a 73-59 win over the Averett Cougars Friday night. The Avenging Angels notched 48 rebounds to just 28 from the hosts to aid in the victory.
Meredith scored first and held onto that lead for all but 50 seconds of play to earn their third win on the season. The Angels held a 35-28 lead at the half and advanced that advantage to nine at the end of the third period.
With 6:19 remaining in the game, AU's Demi Case evened the score at 52 on a three-pointer, but Kimberly Schuh followed with three consecutive buckets to spread the gap back to six. The Angels held onto the lead for the rest of the quarter to notch the win.
Perko matched her career-high rebounds with 20, including 16 on the defensive end, and Schuh posted 10 to go with 18 points. Caroline Coleman hit two threes en route to eight points. Piper Carriere dished out 11 assists with four rebounds, four points, and De'ja Morgan scored four with five rebounds, three assists, one block. Mikayla Thompson recorded three assists with two rebounds, two points, and Mikayla Farris scored one field goal with four boards.
Averett's Camryn Lunsford led the Cougars with 24 points, five steals.
