Box Score 2 RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Meredith College volleyball team hosted a USA South East Tri-Match, which included Averett and N.C. Wesleyan, in Weatherspoon Gymnasium on Friday.
The Avenging Angels defeated the Cougars, 3-2 (25-16, 19-25, 24-26, 25-19, 15-9) before claiming a 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-8) win against the Battling Bishops to finish the day.
In Meredith's first match, Hailey Long led the team with 14 kills on a .520 hitting percentage, while Avery Bowman tallied 13 kills. Lauren Bissette and Whitney Bolton each finished with nine kills and Sara Dees collected eight kills in the victory. In addition, Bowman recorded 19 assists and eight digs and nearly recorded her second straight triple-double. Bowman was tied for a team lead with six total blocks, as well. Bailey Lucas finished with 26 assists and a kill, while Hannah Jo Jablonski recorded three service aces.
Defensively, Lauren Phillips had a game-high 24 digs and pitched in three assists as well.
For the final match of the night, Bolton led the team with 10 kills, while Bissette and Bowman each finished with seven kills. Lucas led the team again with 17 assists and Bowman tallied 14 assists and also put down four service aces.
Phillips led the team with 14 digs and Jablonski tallied 10 digs in the win, while Bolton and Dees each had two total blocks.
The Avenging Angels are back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 13, as they travel to face Methodist at 7 pm.
