Box Score Raleigh, NC - Meredith basketball traveled across town to Wiliam Peace to secure their first win of the season in a USA South Conference match-up on Saturday afternoon. The score was tied 20-20 after the first quarter, but a solid second quarter performance would give the Angels a commanding 41-25 lead going into the second half.
Kate Perko led the Angels once again, scoring 25 points with 18 rebounds. Perko would give Meredith the offensive performance they would need to maintain control of the lead, but it was a total team effort on defense. Head Coach Megan Rahn reflected on the win, “We knew coming into this game that we were going to be strong defensively and win the rebounding battle. Our efforts on the boards created second chance opportunities that we capitalized on. Everyone on the team contributed to this win tonight!” Meredith out-rebounded the Pacers 55-24, scoring 13 second chance points.
The Avenging Angels will return to Weatherspoon Gym on Wednesday, December 15 vs Pfeiffer at 7:00 pm.
