Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. -- With Kate Perko leading the way with 29 points, the Meredith College basketball Angels evened the series with a 71-60 win over the visiting William Peace Pacers. The Avenging Angels outrebounded WPU 49-35, including 19 from Perko.
As expected, this afternoon's rival contest did not disappoint. Peace led by three at the end of the first quarter, but 53 percent shooting from the floor pushed the Angels ahead by three at the half. De'ja Morgan scored 8 of her 12 points in the third quarter, as Meredith managed the Pacer press.
Kimberly Schuh picked up her fourth personal with two minutes remaining in the period and left the game with 45 seconds left on the clock. She finally returned to the game 90 seconds into the fourth quarter and hit six-of-six from the free throw line down the stretch to keep her team out front. After struggling from the stripe throughout the first half, the team hit all 12 free throws in the final period to finish off WPU by 11.
Schuh posted a double-double with 16 points, 12 boards, and Morgan's 12 matched her career-high at WPU Friday night, adding three assists and a pair of steals. Caroline Coleman scored a pair of threes en route to 10 points, adding five assists, and Piper Carriere dished out two assists with three rebounds, four points. Mikayla Thompson tallied four assists with two rebounds, and Mikayla Farris played four critical minutes during Schuh's absence in the second half.
Maria Devincenzo led the Pacers with 13 points and grabbed five steals with three assists.
