Softball splits with William Peace

RALEIGH, N.C. – Meredith softball split a double-header with William Peace to close out the regular season. Meredith took game 1 4-0, whereas the Pacers took Game 2, 5-2.

In game 1, a Rachel Johnson three-run home run in the bottom of the first inning gave Meredith an early lead. In the fourth, the Avenging Angels increased their lead, 4-0, as Sarah Manis scored off of a Tatum Smith double to left field. Sarah Gundlach went the distance in the circle, scattering five hits.

Game 2 saw Meredith take an early 1-0 lead in the first inning as Alyssa Drake scored on an error. William Peace put their three runs across the plate in the third inning, including a Kristina Mojica two-run double, to take a 3-1 lead. Meredith cut into the deficit as Manis touched home plate after a Susanna Taylor single. The Pacers would add insurance to their lead with two more runs in the seventh.

Meredith wraps up their season.
