Box Score 2 RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Meredith College volleyball team tallied a pair of wins during a nonconference quad match, hosted by William Peace, on Saturday.
The Avenging Angels defeated Guilford, 3-0 (25-17, 25-8, 25-22) before earning a 3-1 win (16-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-23) against the Pacers.
With the wins, MC moves to 5-3 on the season.
In the first match of the day, Whitney Bolton paced the team with 14 kills on .500 hitting, while Hailey Long finished with eight kills. Sara Dees and Avery Bowman each tallied seven kills in the victory. Bowman also recorded 19 assists and nine bigs as well as two total blocks. Bailey Lucas finished with 16 asssists and also dropped in four service aces.
Lauren Phillips led the team with 12 digs and she also added three assists.
Additionally, Martin-Maine Wrangell finished with four kills and five assists.
In the win against the Pacers, Bissette struckat a .400 clip and finished with a team-high 15 kills and was part of five blocks. Bolton tallied 11 kills and added in three blocks as well. Sara Dees finished with 12 kills on .455 hitting and put down four blocks as well. Bowman registered seven kills, 24 asssits and 10 digs and totaled five blocks (one solo). Lucas led the way with 25 assists and she also recorded seven digs in the win. Madelyn Clarkadded seven kills, while Hailey Long finished with six kills and four digs.
The Avenging Angels are back in action in nearly a week's time as they travel to Brevard, North Carolina to take on Maryville and Covenant on Friday, Sept. 17, at 1 pm and 5 pm, respectively.
