Box Score The Meredith Basketball team played a greatly competitive game against conference opponent N.C Wesleyan but ultimately fell short by a score of 66-59. N.C Wesleyan got out to a fast start and outscored Meredith 40-24 in the first half. The Avenging Angels fought back hard in the second half, outscoring the Battling Bishops 35-26 in the second half.
The Avenging Angels comeback was fueled by Junior Forward Kate Perko who posted her 11th double-double of the season, posting 25 points and 13 rebounds in the contest. The Avenging Angels also got great play from Sophomore Danika Ray who poured in 12 points and contributing 8 rebounds. Sophomore Guard De'ja Morgan also had a great contribution off the bench with 11 points.
The Battling Bishops were led by Graduate Student Guard Kayla Johnson who posted 23 points, most of which came from beyond the arc as she made 5 3-pointers in the contest. The Battling Bishops also got strong efforts from Graduate Student Guard Keorra Taylor who posted 8 points with 6 assists to go along with it.
The Avenging Angels hit the road as the travel to Winston-Salem as they will take on the Spirits of Salem College on Saturday afternoon. The game will start at 2pm at Varsity Gym. The teams will play again on Sunday, this time in Raleigh where Meredith will host and that game will begin at 2pm as well.
