Basketball drops non-conference game at Mary Washington

Fredericksburg, Va. - The Meredith basketball program traveled to Mary Washington Tuesday night and fell 68-45.

Meredith (1-4) battled back and fourth in the first quarter earning a four-point lead at one point. Mary Washington (7-0) finished the first quarter of action on a 5-0 run and never looked back. 

The Angels trailed 34-24 at the halftime break but Mary Washington outscored Meredith 18-8 in the third quarter to remain unbeaten. The Eagles turned the ball over only 13 times compared to the Avenging Angels 26.

Senior Kate Perko tallied a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Fellow senior Mikayla Thompson added eight points along with junior De'ja Morgan. Freshman Rylie Wade chipped on seven points and four rebounds.

The Angels are back in USA South play when they travel to Southern Virginia Saturday at 4 p.m.
