Field hockey drops home opener

Raleigh, N.C. - The Meredith field hockey program dropped a hard fought home opener 2-0 to Virginia Wesleyan Friday night at the Meredith Track and Field Complex.

The Marlins found both of their goals in the first half with one in the first quarter and one in the second quarter of play. 

The Avenging Angels were outshot 22-2 by the Marlins but created three corner chances but not able to find the back of the net.

Sophomore goalie Shae-Lynn Henderson tallied 12 saves while Emilee Wolfe earned the loan shot on goal for Meredith.

The Avenging Angels are back on their home turf when host Roanoke Wednesday the 21st at 6:30 p.m.
