Perko's game winner lifts Angels over Pfeiffer

Misenheimer, N.C. - The Avenging Angels took down Pfeiffer 67-66 in a USA South classic Saturday afternoon inside Merner Gym. 

Meredith (2-11, 2-4 USA South) out rebounded Pfeiffer (2-9, 0-5 USA South) 68-38 for the game with 29 of those being offensive rebounds for the Angels.

After trailing by two to end the first quarter, Meredith put their stamp on the game in the second quarter outscoring the Falcons 21-13 and headed into halftime up by seven.

With the game going back and forth in the second half, Pfeiffer went on a 6-0 in the fourth to take a five-point lead with six minutes remaining. Meredith matched this with a 6-0 run of their own.

Meredith trailed by one with 20 seconds remaining and senior Kate Perko earns the game winner for the Angels as she finished with 34 points and 22 rebounds. 

Junior Piper Carriere added 14 points and seven rebounds while freshman Rylie Wade tallied 10 rebounds.

Meredith is back in USA South action when they travel to N.C. Wesleyan Tueaday night at 6 p.m.
