Basketball falls at Southern Virginia in USA South first round

Buena Vista, Va. - The Meredith basketball program fell 66-41 to Southern Virginia University Tuesday night inside Knight Arena in the first round of the USA South conference tournament.

Meredith (8-15, 8-7 USA South) was outscored in every quarter of the contest other than the final quarter of play when they scored 22.

Southern Virginia (12-12, 10-6 USA South) only shot 37.7 percent from the floor but held the Angels to 21.1 percent shooting.

Senior Kate Perko tallied her final double-double as an Avenging Angel with 11 points and 12 rebounds while junior De'ja Morgan added six points and five rebounds. Sophomore Emma Lodge added seven points shooting 67 percent.

That concludes the 2022-23 season for the Meredith basketball program.
